weekly Mt Lofty hike
Every Wednesday we hike up one of the local trails to the top of Mt Lofty. Jonno invited us to the group and it has been a great weekly hike and feast! We meet up at 6.30pm in the carpark and hike up the same trail every week, all the way to the top of Mt Lofty where we wait for everybody to arrive before hiking back down again.
Every week we all bring something home-made to eat and or drink. Normally we eat and drink at Tom & Linda’s place – they live just a km down the road from the bottom of the track (and they have an awesome fire place for the cold winter nights!). Some times we decided to have a picnic at the bottom of the first falls, even though it still gets cold later in the evening.
Jon and Jonno are allowed to join the walk as ‘honorary girls’ as this is officially a girls’ night out. We usually see quite a bit of wildlife on our walk:
- a koala sitting in the middle of the track
- an echidna right next to the track
- a kangaroo eating right next to the track
- a possum or baby koala sitting in a tree hollow
- duck with baby in the pond at the bottom of the waterfall
- heaps of white cockatoos
- heaps of black cockatoos
- little lizard running across the track
Regulars on the weekly Wednesday night walk are: Linda, Andrea, Ang, Cynthia, Jennifer, Jonno, Jon and Jude. Occasionally Mark and Ella join us as well, and of course Tom always joins us for dinner.
